| A Welcome slate adorned with a bright yellow pineapple—the universal welcome symbol—greets you as you enter the ground level foyer of the Sea Ya Duplex, and warmly welcomed is exactly how you'll feel in this charming oceanfront vacation spot at Topsail Island. The beach décor stage is immediately set with a Monet print of sailboats over a weatherboard gardening table that holds a basketful of shells and bamboo and other found objects provided by Mother Nature. Three bedrooms, including the oceanfront master, are located on the first level, where a crafty life ring at the top of the stairs displays nautical knots. A fourth bedroom and the living/dining/kitchen areas are on the top level. Living/Dining area: The vaulted ceiling, floor-length windows, and sliding glass doors that lead to the deck add to the already spacious feel of this L-shaped area. Step on to the deck and enjoy expansive views from one end of Topsail Island to the other; watch fishermen trying their luck from the pier to your left. A pair of chaise lounges issues an invitation to relax in the island breeze, and a round table and four chairs are perfect for alfresco dining. Steps connect this upper deck with the lower one, where more steps lead directly to the beach. Inside, your attention will immediately be commanded by a stunning large print of two wooden rowboats tied to a dock, where the play of color, light, and shadow makes it appear that you could just hop in and paddle away. Beneath this, a tan suede sectional sofa, with its mate arranged at a 90-degree angle invite you to unwind. A huge pine coffee table with a dark green base offers plenty of room for game playing; there's a great stock of these on a table on the opposite wall. Or maybe you'll fill the coffee table with bowls of chips and popcorn when you enjoy a movie evening, making use of the TV/VCR combo on the pickled bamboo étagère, which also holds a bookshelf CD/cassette music system. An occasional chair in a tan seashell print with coordinating ottoman and a bright blue canvas deck chair offer more seating. You can comfortably serve 10 at mealtime, with seating for six at the dining room table and four at the bar. Recessed ceiling lighting and lovely wall art in blues and greens with light reminiscent of the Impressionist masters will provide the perfect ambience. Kitchen: Cheerful yellow gingham wallpaper and bright white countertops make this a particularly inviting kitchen, and arrangements of lemons, ivy, baskets, a bottle filled with shells, and three lighthouses atop the plentiful cabinets add a homey touch. Everything you need is here: a built-in microwave, dishwasher, coffee maker, tea kettle, toaster, sharp knives in a butcher block, icemaker, and telephone. Bedroom 1 (top level): In this comfortable room at the rear of the top level, a multi-colored floral spread in green, red, blue, and pink covers the queen-sized bed with its ecru wicker headboard. There's a three-drawer chest, with a mirror above, and a bamboo lamp with botanical motif shade. The light pine bedside table holds a matching lamp and a working barometer. Banana plant prints over the bed and on the back wall complete the décor. The hallway bathroom features a bold striped and zigzag patterned wallpaper in green, red, blue, and pink with coordinating floral shower curtain and mat. A double wicker shelf provides storage. A charming yellow cut-out fish, a lighthouse, and a pewter fish make perfect beach house accents. Bedroom 2 (Master, first level): Wake up to the sound and sight of Topsail Island's rolling surf through the sliding glass doors and flanking floor-length windows in this roomy oceanfront bedroom. Pickled green furnishings with blonde pine tops coordinate nicely with the yellow, green, and blue color block spread covering the queen-sized bed. There's a night table, triple dresser with mirror, chest, and a white wicker chair with a floral cushion in complementing colors. The very spacious master bath features a wide vanity and mirror and a shower/tub combo with pastel pink, green, blue, and yellow wallpaper depicting a seaside city and sailboats. Bedroom 3 (first level): A lovely queen-sized white wicker bed is covered in a mauve and blue rectangular block-pattern that coordinates nicely with the seaside scene print above the headboard. The matching five-drawer chest and bedside table both hold seashell-filled lamps; a mirror hangs above the chest. Bedrooms 2 and 3 share a cheery yellow bathroom with a bright seaside scene border in crayon colors of yellow, blue, red, and green. These colors are repeated in the dotted curtain covering the extra-large shower. Bedroom 4 (first level): The younger family members will love this cozy room, with its bunk beds outfitted in bold green and blue spreads. A three-drawer ecru wicker chest provides storage, and there's a wall mirror. Other amenities: An enclosed garage is located on the ground level. You'll find a handy stackable washer/dryer combo on the first level hallway. Become a part of Sea Ya's family of beach readers by enjoying the fully-stocked bookshelf on the first-level landing. Add to the collection by leaving a book you've brought along, and then take a new one home with you. An outdoor shower for rinsing your sandy feet and beach chairs is located on the lower deck.
