Sliding glass doors, flanked by pairs of double windows and topped with a trio of rectangular windows, let the Topsail Island sun shine in and offer inviting views of sand and sea across the spacious deck.

Living area: The blue denim jean-stitched sofa and loveseat, with solid and blue and white striped pillows tossed about, invite you to nestle in and get cozy. Tan pottery lamps with blue geometric bands and tan linen shades accent twin end tables that match the blond oak coffee table and the wide table that holds the television. A modern S-shaped black leather chair offers more seating.

Dining area: You and your guests will dine in comfort at the rectangular teak table surrounded by the softest of leather chairs, two in red and four in white. A money tree in a white vase is the perfect centerpiece. An artful banana tree with seven white cloth leaves and tiny wood-carved bananas adds a tropical air, and the stunning wide mirror framed in dark beading and convex bamboo completes the atmosphere.

Kitchen: A stepped black granite bar with four backed bar chairs upholstered in red, gold, black, green, and blue separates the living area from the carefully appointed kitchen. Stainless steel appliances, including the side-by-side refrigerator/freezer, flat-top range with built-in microwave above, double stainless sink, and stainless and black coffeemaker, create a clean and inviting look.

Bedroom 1 (first level): This oceanfront bedroom is a study in tasteful contrast, with cool gray walls providing a perfect backdrop for the lean lines of the modern black bedroom suite and well-chosen red decorating touches. Double mirrored closet doors add to the feeling of spaciousness here. Fine red stitches paint seashells on the lovely white quilt and matching shams on the king-sized bed; a delicate white bed skirt peeks out below. A pair of black metal leaf lamps are perched on twin night tables. Walls are adorned with black-framed prints of red starfish and seaweed and a vertical metal art trio of stamped silver squares. Red swirl sheers flank the white tab curtains over sliders that lead to your private deck, where a pair of wide white rockers and two turquoise Adirondack chairs invite you to enjoy an expansive view of the Atlantic Ocean.

You'll concur with the plaque in the adjoining bath that proclaims "Happiness is a day spent at the beach." Red accents here in the towels, wastebasket, and starfish and shell shower curtain hooks perfectly complement gray walls and the red, white, and green curtain over the tub/shower combo. A green mat adds more color, and there's a window onto the deck.Bedroom 2 (first level): The younger set will love this bedroom, with its bunk beds covered in swirl-stitched turquoise quilts and the inviting ladder to the top bunk. There's a five-drawer pine chest for stowing provisions.

Bedroom 3 (first level): A green and white splash quilt with white matelasse shams over a white bedskirt dresses the queen-sized bed here; a dusky rose sheet peeks out. Modern clean-lined warm oak furniture includes a double dresser and mirror and night table.

Bedrooms 2 and 3 share a hallway bath enlivened by a bright beach scene shower curtain in red, orange, green, pink, turquoise, green, blue and yellow over the tub-shower combo. A blue mat on the gray ceramic tile floor coordinates nicely, and a glass block window adds the finishing touch.

Bedroom 4 (first level): A pair of oyster twin beds are outfitted in cozy navy velour, with a night table set between them. There's a chest for clothing storage, a pair of windows on the rear wall, and a delightful embossed shell wall mirror.

The adjoining bath features a wide vanity and mirror, closet with mirrored door, and gray ceramic tile flooring. A privacy door leads to the toilet and stand-up shower, covered with a navy and white print curtain that matches the navy floor mat.

Bedroom 5 (top level): This bedroom and adjoining bath provide a perfect hideaway. The king-sized bed is dressed in a navy shell-stitched quilt with matching shams. Coordinating blue and white wall art depicts a sailboat and nautical knots. Matching chrome lamps with white shades stand on blue cloths on the twin night tables, and there is a chest for storage.
