Our sweet beach cottage is tucked among some of the prettiest mature woodlands on the island. Nestled between the Intracoastal Waterway and the Beach, Shoal Sisters is a perfect choice for a vacation that is not battered by ocean winds and sand, but quietly perched in a family neighborhood. A two minute drive (or one mile walk) will have you at the oceanfront in a flash. If you prefer to walk, we are just afew blocks from the beach walkover and the Oak Island Recreation Center! Our neighborhood is a jogger and dog walker's dream: the well marked walkway at SE 31st street provides a town kayak launch for the Davis Canal and a great view of the center of the island, not accessible by car. This is our favorite area to catch a great sunrise/sunset around the marshlands and to check out a lot of waterbirds. There is a secondary walking path at SE 20th so there is potential for a longer loop for the runners in your group! Lush landscaping and a wonderful back yard make this a private coastal retreat. Roast smores in an outdoor fire, walk your furry friend down the friendly street, or cozy up inside our open living space. With an oversize primary bedroom suite and two large, comfy bedrooms sharing their own bath, you will have plenty of sleep time privacy. One story living with only a few steps at the front porch, Shoal Sisters is perfect for travelers who need to avoid stairs.

Rental Policies:
In response to increased incidence of credit card fraud, a valid government photo ID will be required for every reservation. A signed rental agreement is required: accepting House Rules on any online travel agency requires reading and acceptance of our rental agreement.

*In Season weekly rentals are from Sat - Sat. (June - August)
*Off Season monthly rentals (mid-Sept. - mid-May)

Off season (Sept.-May)
*Check-in: 3:00-5:00PM.
*Check out: Before 10:00AM.
We adhere to this policy so please do not arrive early or plan to delay your departure.

Prohibited on premises:
*Absolutely no events such as weddings, sororities, fraternities, bachelor or bachelorette parties etc...
*NO Smoking inside, outside or in common areas.
Things to bring:
**Paper towels and toilet tissue, trash bags, soaps, detergents, minimal cleaning supplies and beach towels.
Pets Allowed - One Dog Only. Rent includes one Pet Fee. Oak Island Beach is pet-friendly, but you must follow guidelines. Please check the town website for beach pet restrictions.
Cancellation Policy:
- Free cancellation within 48 hours of booking
- After 48 hours of booking and more than 60 days out from arrival, a full refund will be processed less a $300 cancellation fee
- After 48 hours of booking and within 60 days of arrival, there will be no refund processed unless the dates are re rented. If premises are re rented, a refund will be processed less a $300 cancellation fee.
Things To Do:
Oak Island is known for its golden sand beaches, calming blue waters, friendly community, and close proximity to the cities of Southport, Wilmington, and Myrtle Beach. There are many cute island coffee shops, stores, breweries, and a park that showcases a splash-pad for summer fun! With a beautiful Golf Club open to summer travelers and over 100 public water access points, there is an abundance of all things adventurous to do on Oak Island!
If you'd like to keep your fitness routine going while on vacation, you can get an out-of-town Gym pass at Oak Island Recreation Center. Utilize the Rec Center's ample parking, put in at the Kayak ramp and spend hours kayaking our beautiful marshes. Sit on the lawn and enjoy a night off cooking at our Weekly Friday night "Summer Concert In The Park" with a couple of local food truck options at this family centric Live Music event. Beach Day takes place in Oak Island on the Friday prior to July 4th and features all day activities followed by fireworks on the island that evening.
Visit Historic Southport, a seafaring town just five miles from our island, for a bigger nightlife. Southport, at the confluence of the Cape Fear River and the Atlantic Ocean, features a variety of different restaurants, bars, live music and shopping. It is one of our favorite places to walk around and check out different food and live music on the weekends. There are free parking options all over town, and you can easily walk to dozens of places while enjoying the breeze from the riverfront and admiring historic homes and general store buildings that date back to the early 1800s. Southport's State Fourth of July Festival is a three-day street fair with artists from all over the state, vendors, and food. It is truly like being in an Andy Griffith episode with the parade and grand finale fireworks show over the river front in Southport.
